The NAPPAP was established in 1991 when the idea of creating a foundation of plein air painters whose combined efforts and established communications throughout the US would provide a foundation for the professional, open up opportunities for the artist and educate the public about this movement. Five years later the idea became a reality and the National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters was founded. The membership was formed from a coalition of professional artists who wanted to have a means of networking and pooling their knowledge in order to support and collectively grow both artistically and professionally. Since that time the NAPPAP has been the leading group in setting the highest standards for plein air work and professional ethics. You can see their works at http://nappap.org

PROGRAMS IN EXISTENCE

  • In 1991 we created the first online plein air painting news network that covers workshops, events, call for artists, exhibition announcements, gallery showings, and posting them weekly to plein air painters, workshop promoter and galleries and now provide a collectors newsletter.
  • We created the First National PROFESSIONAL artist resource for learning web skills, networking different part of the country, problem solving with fellow professionals and creating opportunities in the brick and mortar world using the internet.
  • We are the first plein consortium linking our members with the membership of 200+ groups, already connecting a network of not just individuals but virtual art communities, brick and mortar universities and clubs.
  • We hosted our first member exhibition at the National Arts Club Gregg Galleries in 2005. We did our second at the Elkhorn Gallery in Winter Park CO.  This year we are exhibiting at the Texas Art Gallery with an event of 33+ artists and over 130 works of art exhibiting.
  • We are seeking funding for the expansion of our website with the hiring of a  professional developer to expand our click exhibitions and publication of a project we started called the AAW Catalogs Project for which we need considerable funding to launch* Other advertising and promotional opportunities for sponsors include providing funding for our invitations, this year our invitation is a poster invitation and our advertising campaigns which we would also like to expand.  Our objective is to further open up the opportunities not only in the plein air painting but linking nature art to plein air painting.

You can support our efforts by joining our consortium of plein air and nature artists, galleries, workshop promoters etc. Through becoming a Bronze, Gold or Platinum Partner. See the features for different levels of partnership following.

PROGRAMS WE ARE SEEKING TO FUND:

We are instituting an upgraded programmed news service to connect artists on a broader market, promoters and businesses involved in related markets and hire a developer consultant to achieve the upgrade. http://NAPPAP.org

We have already developed a professional workstation to create our news, workshop listing and online click shows. We will continue developing Brick and Mortar Shows for our membership, and producing the AAW catalogs as well as doing an annual calendar and perhaps other publications linking plein air painting and nature art to the institutional collector.  Opportunities abound for sponsorship of click and brick shows, the website workstations, newsletters and online exhibitions, and funding publications. The following levels of sponsorship are available.  Gold Patrons and above all receive a guided tour by phone (upon request)  through the inside workings of the workstation to comprehend the needs of the group and how the operation works.

THE PURPOSE

The purpose of the organization is to educate the public and to provide the services and support the professionals need in the field of plein air painting and landscape artists and to develop programs for the betterment of nature art in general.

*The Artists at Work (AAW) Catalog project is an extension of the ideals of the NAPPAP into the real world.   The expansion of the scope of the exchange to include all artists painting nature subjects today. National/International Artists, painting en plein air and/or nature subjects are joining together to expose their work to institutional collectors: museum staff, top galleries and corporate collectors. It is designed to present a high quality catalog forming a permanent record of what is transpiring in this field today. Complete proposals are provided for companies who wish to become Master Sponsors.
